LOCAL MANUFACTURING

Build closer
to the work.

A micro-factory is a small workshop for building and supporting vehicles. Fabrication, assembly, maintenance, and training belong in the same local business plan.

MORE THAN ASSEMBLY

Build vehicles. Build practical capability.

Fabrication.

Steel cutting, forming, welding, painting, assembly, and consistent quality checks.

Service.

Maintenance, repairs, parts planning, and field troubleshooting after delivery.

Training.

Operator preparation, vehicle care, safe use, and practical business skills.

THE FOUNDATION

Start with demand, people, and support.

A market for useful work

Who needs transport? What can customers afford? How would the vehicles earn income or fund their operation? Start with demand before committing to production.

People and a repeatable process

Identify leadership, fabrication and assembly skills, documented processes, and a way to check every finished vehicle.

Materials, parts, and repair

Plan how components and materials reach the workshop and how operators get repairs, replacement parts, and technical help.

A funded business plan

Account for equipment, stock, wages, facilities, early operating costs, and the time needed to develop dependable demand.

LEARNING FROM TANZANIA
