WHY TRANSPORTATION

Distance should not
decide what is possible.

A harvest has value when it reaches a buyer. Water helps when families can bring it home. Useful transportation connects the work people already do with the places they need to reach.

EVERYDAY TRIPS

Practical transport. Wider possibilities.

Reach a market.

Move crops and goods to customers beyond walking distance.

Reach essentials.

Carry water, medicine, and supplies for daily work and community needs.

Earn an income.

Use a vehicle on a farm, in a business, or to move goods for paying customers.

FROM TRANSPORT TO LIVELIHOODS

Useful work can help keep a vehicle working.

Customer fees can help pay for fuel, maintenance, repairs, and the operator’s livelihood. An existing business may use a BUV to serve more customers or move its own goods.

Lasting use needs sufficient demand, a responsible operator, and access to maintenance. A vehicle alone cannot guarantee a profitable business. Ministry and community programs may also need dependable donor support.

For Paulo, deliveries became a livelihood.

Paulo described delivering goods and water for local customers. The income helped him pay rent, support his family, and help his father build a home.

His story illustrates the possibility of income-producing transport in one person’s life.
